Tricky Women is the first and only festival of animated film that is dedicated exclusively to animation by women. The festival offers an international competition of animated short films realized by female artists and produced in 2010 or 2011.

The 9th edition of Tricky Women AnimationFilmFestival will take place in Vienna 14th - 18th March, 2012.
The deadline for applications for the preliminary selection is October 21st, 2011. (Postmark!)

Tricky Women Award of the City of Vienna worth 4,000 Euro
3-month scholarship to live and work at quartier21/MQ under the Artist-in-Residence Program
Synchro Film & Video Material Prize worth 1,500 Euro
Hubert Sielecki Award worth 750 Euro (for Austrian animation)
Tricky Women Audience Award: Accreditation for Tricky Women 2013
Tricky Women Award of the City of Vienna worth 4,000 Euro

++ Special focus on films dealing with the topic “work”
In addition to the competition we are also looking for animated films dealing with the topic un/employment/working processes and situations/precarity/visions of fair working conditions etc.
A selection of these films will be shown in one or more special programmes at the festival. Older films may be submitted as well! Films from 2010 or 2011 may also be entered for the competition.

Tricky Women is traveling to the Aniwow! Festival (October 28th – 31st, 2011) in Beijing and is presenting two Tricky Women programmes with a fine selection of animations from Austria and the awarded animations, audience favorites and special rarities from ten years of Tricky Women.
