11th AniFest
International Festival of Animated Films

Dear friends of animation,
We would like to remind you that the deadline for submitting your films into the international competition of 11th edition of AniFest is coming closer.
We would also like to kindly ask all authors who have already submitted their film but haven’t sent us a copy for the selection committee yet to do so as soon as possible!
 Our competition is open for entries until 20th December 2011. You are kindly invited to submit your film produced after 1st January 2010 into one of the following categories (including the brand new category for non-narrative and experimental films):
• International Competition of Short Animated Films up to 5 Minutes in Length
• International Competition of Short Animated Films from 5 to 15 Minutes in Length
• International Competition of Short Animated Films from 15 to 60 Minutes in Length 
• International Competition of Feature-length Animated Films 

• International Competition of Student Animated Films
• International Competition of Animated Television Films and Series
• International Competition of Animated Commercials and Jingles
• International Competition of Animated Music Videos
• International Competition of Non-narrative and Experimental Animated Films

• International Competition of Animated Films Made by Children up to 12 years of age
• International Competition of Animated Films Made by Children from 12 to 15 years of age


The only (and easiest) way how to submit a film is to fill the online entry form HERE. There’s no entry fee.
7800 euros will be handed over to the winners together with the awards.
Until December 20 you can also submit a film into the competition of schools films from Visegrad countries, which will be held as part of the 2nd edition of Visegrad Exchange Forum (April 25 – 28, 2012, Teplice, Czech Republic). Films into this competition must be submitted by the teachers through the online entry form (see the link above) and the medium with the film must be marked VISEGRAD.
The deadline for projects applications into the pitching forum is March 31, 2012. More detailed information and application form into the pitching forum is to be found HERE.
You can also find AniFest 2012 regulations and statute (describing in detail the competition categories, prizes and other technicalities) on our website www.anifest.cz. In case you have any doubts about the technical specifications of accepted films, you can also try the FAQ section on our website.

Blender

Прясно завърнали се от тазгодишната Blender конференция в Амстердам, в рамките на TOSMI 2011: Advanced Blender, Басам Курдали и Себастиан Кьониг ще направят публична презентация в София, на която ще покажат последните си проекти, ще споделят горещи новини от конференцията, ще ни разкажат за новостите около Blender 2.6a и подробности от кухнята на тазгодишния TOSMI.


Себастиан ще говори по-конретно за тракинг и композитинг с Blender, ще сподели новини около току що стартиралия проект Mango – кратък филм с визуални ефекти и актьори и ще представи своята роля в неговата реализация.

Басам ще сподели предизвикателствата на продукционния процес на нанастоящи си филмов проект - Tube, фокусирайки се върху ригинг, анимация и pipeline – тема, която беше и в центъра на дискусиите в майсторския клас по анимация в Амстердам, ръководен от него през изминалата седмица. Той ще представи също някои от последните приложение в Blender и ще сподели интригуваща информация около планираните новости в Blender 3Д през следващата година.

Презентацията ще се проведе на английски език и ще завърши с въпроси и отговори. Входът е свободен.

Проектът се изпълнява с продкрепата на програма „МЕДИА“ на Европейската Комисия и програма „КУЛТУРА“ на Столична община.


За лекторите:Басан Курдали (САЩ)
Носител на награди 3D артист и режисьор, режисирал филма Elephants Dream - първият филм, създаден с Blender, започва да използва програмта като тестовo средство за ринг експерименти. Под егидата на Freefac Басам продължава да изследва отворения модел за продуциране, който инвестира в общността. Той обучава, пише и изнася лекции по целия свят по темата за отворения модел на продуциране и техники за работа с отворен софтуер. Роден в Алепо, Сирия, Басам завършва обучението си като електро и софтуерен инженер в Съединените Американски Щати.

Себастиан Кьониг (Германия)
3D аниматор, който реализира редица продукти, свързани с архитектурната визуализация, органично моделиране и анимация, използвайки Syntheyes за камера-тракинг и Blender за рендеринг и композитинг. Блендер е основният инструмент, който използва, заради богатия набор от приложения, изключителния динамичен интерфейс и подкрепата от Blender общността. Понастоящем той преподава в cmiVFX, където създава онлайн видео уроци, насочени към професионалисти и студиа.

Professional Animation and Visual FX with Blender 3D - sneak preview of recent developments and projects

Right back from the Blender Conference 2011 and amidst the Advanced Blender course of TOSMI 2011, Bassam Kurdali and Sebastian Koenig will give a public presentation in Sofia and show their latest projects, share some hot news from the Blender Conference, tell us what's new in Blender 2.6a and give some insight into this year's TOSMI group work.

Sebastian will talk specifically about tracking and compositing workflow in Blender and share some news around the new Mango project - a short vfx-based film with real actors and his role in its development.

Bassam will talk about production challenges from his upcoming movie the Tube project, focusing on Rigging, Animation and Pipeline issues, that were also the topic of his Animation Masterclass in Amsterdam. He'll also talk about some of Blender's new features for artists, and give some insight into possible future developments in the next year.

Come prepared, read this hot report from this year's Blender Conference.

The presentation will be held in English and will be followed by a Q&A session.
The event is free and open to all.

Speaker's bios:
Bassam Kurdali (USA)
3D animator/filmmaker, director of Elephants Dream. His character, ManCandy, began as an easily animatable test bed for rigging experiments. Under the aegis of Freefac, Bassam is continuing to explore a model of production that capitalizes on commonwealth. He teaches, writes and lectures around the world on open production and free software technique. Born in Aleppo, Syria, Bassam trained in the United States as an electrical and software engineer.

Sebastian Koenig (Germany)
3D artist producing a wide range of work: architectural visualization, organic modeling and character animation, compositing and matchmoving (with Syntheyes). Blender is his main tool, simply because of the great feature-set, the great and flexible interface, a fast and straight-forward workflow and a lovely community. Currently he is teaching at cmiVFX, where he is creating online video-tutorials geared towards professionals and studios.
